Marsh has introduced a new insurance facility offering up to €1 billion in cover for large-scale data centre construction projects across the UK and Europe.
The facility, named Nimbus, is supported by a panel of insurers from Lloyd’s and company markets in London and Europe.
Nimbus combines a range of coverages, including construction all-risks, delay in start-up, property damage, and business interruption. The facility offers up to €1 billion in construction all-risks capacity and an additional €350 million for delay in start-up.
The launch comes as data centre construction accelerates across the region, driven by rising demand for processing and storage capacity.
Marsh says the facility provides streamlined access to specialised coverage from A-rated carriers, helping clients manage their critical assets with greater efficiency and confidence.
Kelly Looney, UK CEO, Construction, Infrastructure and Surety, Marsh Specialty, says data centres are increasingly viewed as essential infrastructure.
Looney notes: “Given the crucial role they now play in telecommunications, computer systems, and data storage, it is essential that their construction is completed on time and on budget.
“Nimbus provides clients with project-specific coverage via a streamlined process that expedites the delivery of data centre construction projects and ensures a seamless transition to operational readiness.”
The launch of Nimbus follows Marsh’s recent introduction of its data centre insurance and risk management Services, which addresses the specific risks faced by data centre operators throughout the lifecycle of their operations.
