Miller acquires AHJ to grow reinsurance platform

Miller has completed its acquisition of AHJ Holdings, the parent company of Alwen Hough Johnson and AHJ Europe AS.

Founded in 1973, AHJ is a reinsurance broker operating across property, casualty, marine, energy, and other insurance lines.

The acquisition adds scale to Miller’s treaty reinsurance operations and broadens its reach in the Nordic, Caribbean and North American markets.

The combined reinsurance teams will operate under the name AHJ Miller and be led jointly by Gary Masters and Shaun Sinniah.

James Hands, group CEO of Miller, says: “The acquisition of AHJ significantly accelerates our reinsurance strategy.

“The dedicated expertise which AHJ brings strongly complements our specialty offering and will allow us to bring our combined capabilities to a greater number of clients.”

Gary Masters, CEO of AHJ Miller, states: “Miller’s culture and reputation as a client-centric business mean we could not have found a better home.

“As part of AHJ Miller we will be able to bring additional services to our clients, such as Miller’s facultative and capital advisory capabilities.”
