Aon has named Dan Hartung as global head of event response for its Risk Capital division.
Hartung brings nearly 15 years of experience as a meteorologist and catastrophe analytics leader.
He has been with Aon for more than 13 years, most recently serving as managing director. In his new role, he will oversee Aon’s global event response team, delivering actionable insights to insurer clients before, during and after natural disasters.
Paul Shedden, head of Risk Capital analytics at Aon, says the move will help clients “navigate volatility, strengthen resilience and make more informed decisions”.
“Natural catastrophe events are inherently complex, resulting in substantial economic losses, including US$125 billion already in 2025,” he adds.
Tracy Hatlestad, global head of property reinsurance, notes that Hartung’s leadership will support insurers facing rising catastrophe risk by “delivering timely, data-driven insights”.
“Dan’s deep expertise in catastrophe analytics and his proven ability to lead through complexity make him the ideal person to guide this effort,” she notes.
Hartung will also help develop a new platform for event analytics, due to launch later this year, which will provide portfolio-level risk visualisation and customised alerts.
He will continue to be based in Baltimore.
