Argo Group shifts senior responsibilities

Argo Group International Holdings, an international specialty insurance and reinsurance underwriter, has appointed Matt Harris as head of international operations.

Effective 1 January 2019, Harris will succeed Jose Hernandez, who will take responsibilities for leading strategic initiatives across the company as international operations chair.

An experienced industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Harris will lead the company’s international insurance operations, including the UK, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Bermuda.

Both Harris and Hernandez will report to CEO Mark Watson.

Additionally, Kevin Rehnberg has been appointed as chief administrative officer.

Rehnberg, who joined Argo in 2013, will continue in his current role as head of the company’s insurance business for the US and Latin America.

Watson said the changes reflected the “deep bench of talented senior executives at Argo”.

He added: “Matt Harris’ vast experience in both international operations and distribution makes him uniquely suited to move into his broader leadership role.”

“Jose Hernandez has led the continued transformation of our international business and brought on board a number of key executives. I am pleased we will now have the benefit of his insight and expertise applied across the company.”

“Kevin Rehnberg has transformed the US business, demonstrating a persistent drive for results and continuous improvement. I’m certain he will take on these responsibilities with the same vigorous approach.”
