Marsh launches Marsh Nexus Captive Solution

Marsh launches Marsh Nexus Captive Solution (Marsh Nexus), a captive insurance offering designed to help multinational organisations manage the risks and costs of their international employee benefits programmes.

Marsh Nexus is a cell captive structure aimed at clients with employee benefits spend outside the US of more than US$3 million annually. The solution operates through Marsh's Mangrove Protected Cell Company, domiciled in Washington DC.

By combining Marsh's global scale with a portfolio management approach, Marsh Nexus is intended to widen access to a captive insurance facility while reducing administrative complexity and accelerating cost efficiencies. The structure is positioned as an alternative to a single-parent captive for organisations that lack the scale or resources to build sustainable benefits programmes through risk retention solutions on their own.

The launch responds to rising health benefits costs. According to Marsh's Health Trends 2026 report, employer-provided health plans face projected double-digit increases across most markets.

Donna Weber, Marsh Captive Solutions' global pooling and cell facilities leader, says: "The use of captives for international employee benefits has more than doubled in the last five years, and more than 140 companies now have in excess of US$3 billion in premium. Through the power of Marsh, the world's largest captive insurance manager, Marsh Nexus enables clients to take an off-the-shelf, low-cost approach to risk retention and break new ground in managing mounting international employee benefits costs."

Paul Lewis, Mercer Marsh Benefits' multinational advisory growth leader, says: "With the continued trend of rising global healthcare costs, organisations are focused on how to balance cost management while still providing valued, personalised employee benefit programmes across the world. By reducing the administrative effort and costs associated with utilising a single parent captive, Marsh Nexus is a cost-efficient vehicle that complements broader benefits strategies and supports multinational organisations in optimising next-generation employee benefit programmes."

Marsh is a global broker in risk, reinsurance and capital, people and investments, and management consulting.
